Hello my friends! Prepare yourself for a very long post, lol!
Well, in the last month I watched all the movies nominated to the Oscars. Well, I watched only the ones that were nominated in the first five categories. So I'd like to discuss these movies and point out my favourites. I will also describe the other films that are nominated in the other categories and that I have obviously seen. So, let's start!
American Hustle

Vote: 4.5/10
As you have seen from my vote, I didn't like this movie. I didn't saw anything special in this film: the plot (what plot? lol) was banal and there are tons of other movies like this one that were more agreeable (Like the Ocean's films). I really can't understand why this movie was nominated in all those categories. Let's analyse them.
Best Motion Picture of the Year - Are you fucking serious? This movie was so booooring and so useless. Maybe it's only a personal taste, but I really don't like it.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role: Christian Bale - Okay, despite the ugly movie, Christian did a wonderful job! His character is fine and I love how he portraited it. I'm a not a fan of Bale, but I have to say that he was very good. So the nomination is okay!
Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role: Amy Adams - Her character was a little confused and bad written, but Amy can act well even the rubbish. The nomination is well accepted, she was great! Maybe she should be nominated for Her, because even in that little part she was amazing, but I can't complain about it.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role: Bradley Cooper - I'm sorry, but why do you call him an actor? Omg, he's so bad in acting! Maybe it's the movie (I have to say that I haven't watched other films with him), but he didn't deserve the nomination. I mean, have you listened his voice? It's so crappy! Yack, I didn't like him at all.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role: Jennifer Lawrence - Maybe you didn't know this, but I can't stand this woman. I mean, she's so fake and fake and fake. But despite this, I deleted every prejudice about her before watching the film. But my feels about her hasn't changed. I've always watched her movies doubbed in Italian and I didn't saw all that bad acting in her voice. But when I saw this movie in original, with her actual voice... oh, gosh! She's so raged! I mean, she seems a raged, fake and unnatural dog! And her character was even good. So it was all her fault. I can't stand seeing her nominated alongside Lupita Nyong'o and Julia Roberts: it's a sacrilege!
All the other nominations for this film are so useless! I mean, are you serious? You nominated this movie in best costumes! This is only a bad joke.
Captain Phillips

My vote: 10/10
From a bad film to an amazing one. Wow, this movie is flawless! I loved every second of it and the cast was so good! I mean, why they didn't nominate Tom Hanks? He's a complete actor and I adore him in every movie I have seen with him. But let's go to the nominations!
Best Motion Picture of the Year - I totally agree! I think this movie should definetely win. The plot was simply but the tension! OMG! The tension in this movie is so high that when you finish it, your shirt will be all sweaty.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role: Barkhad Abdi - Okay, he was great, but not good as Tom Hanks. He did a wonderful job, so it's okay.
All the nominations are okay for me, so I'll not spend other words for this film. You have to watch it for understanding the greatness of the movie!
Dallas Buyers Club

My vote: 9/10
This movie is very good. The film in itself is very simply, but the actors are simply flawless!
Maybe it's not a film that will win the Best Motion Picture of the Year, but Matthew McConaughey is too perfect for words. For me he's the Best Actor this year. I mean, he was always good, but in this movie he overcomes himself. He changed his way of beeing, his voice and he completely turns in the characater. Good job, Matthew!
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role: Jared Leto - I'm not a fan of him, but he was perfect for this movie. I mean, you don't see Jared Leto in a character, you see him as an actual woman. In this category there is a real battle between him and Fassbender. They were both terrific!
Gravity

My vote: 10/10
Another amazing film! And if I said so, you have to trust me, because I'm not a fan of the genre. I mean, I won't be disappointed if this movie will win as Best Motion Picture, because it keeps your eyes on the screen til the end. The time flies so fast that you didn't know why at the middle of the movie you feels that were pass only 5 minutes. Sandra Bullock is great, even if, for me, it's not the best performance of her career, but the nomination as Best Actress is well deserved. Even George Clooney could be nominated: he's much better than Bradley Cooper or Jonah Hill.
So, all my greetings to this film: anything it'll won, it'll be well deserved.
Her

My vote: 7.5/10
Okay, this movie is not all that bad, but it's too long and sloooooooow. When I finished it, I felt so listless and drained! But the idea is fine and I like all those artistic moments.
I think that Joaquin Phoenix should be nominated, because there is only him in this movie. He's very great! Scarlett Johansson did a wonderful job too, because giving emotions only with the voice is very difficoult.
I wish this movie will win as Best Original Screenplay, because there are amazing dialogues and speeches.
Nebraska

My vote: 8/10
I have to say that this movie surprised me. I wasn't very inspired when I saw it, but the film was very pretty and nice.
The story is simply, but the character are so beautiful! Especially the one of Bruce Dern: he's so cute and good! It's a lovely movie, really!
All the nominations are good and I won't be disappointed if this movie will win something. I think that simplicity is the best way for winning.
Philomena

My vote: 9/10
Another good film! The story makes you so angry and nervous, but I think the beauty of this movie is in this. And in Judi Dench. Wow, this actress is simply amazing! I had never seen her in a character like this: she is very sweet and she's my personal favourite for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
I also wish that it will win as a non-original screenplay. This movie was very well made.
12 Years a Slave

My vote: 10/10
This movie is one of my favourites. It's so emotional and well directed. It's a little masterpiece. I'm so happy that it had all those nominations. And I'll be happy if this film will win as Best Motion Picture.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role: Chiwetel Ejiofor - He was great and emotional. Even if I think that McConaughey is invincible, he was very talented and great.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role: Michael Fassbender - I've always known that Michael is a great actor, but this film swept away all my doubts and fears. The character was very difficoult and he managed to act it in a magistral way. He's my personal favourite for this category.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role: Lupita Nyong'o - Jennifer Lawrence who? Hahaha, don't let me laugh. She's so natural and good. For me, she's a revelation and the winner of this category. I'm with you, Lupita!
I also hope that Steve McQueen will win as Best Director. He deserves this prize so much!
The Wolf of Wall Street

My vote: 1/10
For me, this movie is pure shit. Maybe it's because I'm not a fan of this genre, but, seriously? What is the point of this film? I can understand that it's from a book and from a personal story, but... what the fuck is wrong with the Academy Awards? I mean, Leonardo DiCaprio is usually a wonderful actor and he could be nominated for Gatsby, but in this role he's exaggerate. All the movie is an exaggeration: 3 hours of a stupid movie, 2 hours of unnecessary and dirty sex scenes... It only gets a little better in the end. But really, it was more than boring. It was exhausting. For me, all the nominations are wrong, especially the one for Jonah Hill. This film is even worse of American Hustle.
A brief summary of the language, the scenes, the meaning, the acting and the directing:
"Fuck. Fuck! Fuck, fuck, fuck and fuck! Fuck, fuck and bugger! Bugger, bugger, buggerty buggerty buggerty, fuck, fuck, arse!
...fuckity, shit, shit, fuck and willy. Willy, shit and fuck and... tits".
Blue Jasmine

My vote: 6/10
I usually like Woody Allen's films. But this one wasn't all that good. It didn't impress me. Even Cate Blanchett is not all that great. From her I was expecting a completely different role from the past ones that she acted. I expected a role as the one of Judi Dench. I mean, she was great, but it was something seen before. Nothing special. I won't be sad if she'll win, because I love her as an actress, but for me, this role is not her best. She could do more.
And I can't understand the nomination for Sally Hawkins: the character is very stupid and not all that difficoult.
Myabe I was expecting a lot from this movie, but it disappointed me a lot.
August: Osage County

My vote: 6.5/10
Watching this film made me so nervous. It's another exaggeration: this time, of an American family. This movie is good only because the actors, all the actors, are more than great. I liked even Benedict Cumberbatch: I have to say that I'm changing idea about him. He's talented and in this movie was my favourite character. But for me he'll be always ugly, lol!
Meryl Streep was flawless as always: for me the Academy shoulf create a category just for her! She's an actual acress. An Actress with the "A" capitalized. Julia Roberts was really good, she'll deserve this prize, if she'll win! I mean, her way of acting is so simply and natural that she could act in whatever movie.
Frozen

My vote: 9/10
I really love this film! It's not my favourite animated Disney movie, but it's really close. I haven't give this film 10/10 because of the songs: they're too many and I wasn't prepared for all those songs, lol.
Anyway, the film is very beautiful and it has a fantastic plot twist. I hope this film will be the winner for the Best Animated Movie category.
The Great Gatsby

My vote: 10/10
I loved this film so much and I'm so disappointed it didn't get more nominations. But I truly hope it'll win as Best Costume Design.
I mean, the costumes were breathtaking and flawless! So, all my greetings!
The Lone Ranger

My vote:10/10
As you know, this movie for me is a little masterpiece! So I am really happy that it was nominated in two categories. Especially because this movie was so underrated and nominated to the Razzies. I'm so angry about this! So, I hope it will win something, at least the Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling. So, go The Lone Ranger, go!
Saving Mr. Banks

My vote: 10/10
I'm so upset this film wasn't nominated in all the categories. It's a wonderful movie and all the cast is great. I can't understand why it was nominated only as Best Soundtrack: okay, I love Thomas Newman works, but he didn't do all this work in the film. All the music was a reprise of Mary Poppins songs, so it's so strange they nominated it in that specific category.
The Hobbit - The Desolation of Smaug

My vote: 10/10
I won't spend many words about this film, you already know how much I love it. I'm just disappointed because of the few nominations. But I hope it'll win anything in wich is listed.
Iron Man 3

My vote: 10/10
Even if I like this film so much, I think there are better candidates in the category "Best Achievement in Visual Effects". So I won't be with this movie, I'm sorry!

Date: 2014-03-02 10:01 pm (UTC)I agree with you when you talk about The Wolf of Wall Street and Her. I think Nebraska has been nominated because it's a totally indipendent movie and I think that they managed to do a great movie with few money. For Gravity and 12 Years a Slave we have different opinions, because I loved them very much! So, don't you like Sandra Bullock? I think she's a good actress when she makes the right movies! But anyway, these are only my opinions!
Can't wait for the ceremony!

Date: 2014-03-02 08:00 am (UTC)But I'm very glad you're warming up to Benedict Cumberbatch's acting. Whether you find him attractive or not, he's a darling. :) Sad, though, that you don't like Jennifer Lawrence. I adore her. XD

Date: 2014-03-03 06:05 pm (UTC)Yeah, he's a good actor. And I'm also glad that his fans are becoming more normal! Jennifer Lawrence, for me, is too fake and seems that she never stops acting. I don't like her neither as an actress. I think she's overestimated. Anyway, these are only my personal thoughts! ;)

Date: 2014-03-02 12:32 pm (UTC)I couldn't agree more with what you said about american hustle, it was so disappointing and didn't liked it at all so i don't get either all the buzz and nominations/awards that is getting and i'm a jennifer lawrence fan, i think she's an amazing actress (specially in winter's bone) but in this one it was a big no, i didn't believed her performance and all i could see was jennifer
dallas buyers club was a great surprise for me and the acting was so on point
her was pure perfection to me, i really like that type of films and it's a movie that stucked with me days after watching it and watched it with headphones was even better because it's like scarlett's character is talking straight to you idk i just loved it and joaquin deserved at least a nom because he carries the entire movie and his a+ acting
loved 12 years a slave too and if lupita doesn't win tonight i'll be so mad because she owned all of her scenes and if that's not oscar worth acting i don't know what it is
i see that we have a total different opinion about the wolf of wall street haha i really enjoyed it and even thought it's a long movie it felt short to me but i know that the opinions about this one are mixed though i agree about jonah, i didn't see anything special for him to get a nom
blue jasmine disappointed me as well, i found it boring and i didn't really cared about the characters or the plot at all but i think it's been like this in the past years with woody's films, it's a hit or miss and sadly this one is a miss
frozen is a gem, i wasn't interested in it but one day i was bored and felt like watching it and i'm so glad i did because it was so good! and this happened to me too with saving mr banks
and finally about the great gatsby it should have gotten at least a nom in the original song category like just pick one because that soundtrack it's pure gold, my personal fave it's lana del rey's young and beautiful and the hobbit... i loved the first one but this one not that much it was a bit slow to me
let's see what happens and sorry for one of the longest comments i've ever wrote!

Date: 2014-03-03 06:09 pm (UTC)Oh, for The Hobbit: I'm a Tolkien fan and so for me everything related to his works is pure perfection! So, I think it's normal if you don't like some of the movies! :D
